DO CALASPARRA & LAJOYA

The Calasparra Rice-Growing Region lies within the basins of the Segura and Mundo rivers, at an altitude ranging from 341 to 500 meters above sea level. At this elevation, the unique climatic and hydrological conditions slow the grain’s ripening process, enhancing its quality.

This is true mountain-grown rice. Its distinct character comes from the continuous flow of crystal-clear water through terraced fields, nourishing the crops naturally by gravity—without stagnant water—for optimal growth.

We proudly present two varieties of rice under our DO Calasparra:

Both varieties require more broth than typical rice from other Designations of Origin. For best results, we recommend following the cooking instructions on the packaging.
